Rolled Oats Shortbread in the microwave
Rolled Oats Shortbread in the microwave
Things you need
A mixing bowl- plastic or glass. Make sure it will fit
in the microwave.
A glass, plastic or china dish. Square or rectangle
is best but a round flan dish will do. Make sure it will fit in the
microwave. Remember- Do not use metal in the microwave.
100 g of butter
1 cup of rolled oats (stuff you make porridge with)
1 cup desiccated coconut (coconut in tiny pieces)
½ cup of brown sugar If you only have white sugar it will be
OK.
¼ cup of white sugar
What to do – Method
1.
Put the butter in the mixing bowl. Put
the bowl in the microwave. If you have a paper towel put it over the top of the
bowl. This stops the butter making a big mess. Microwave on High for 40 seconds
or until the butter is melted.
2.
Take the bowl out of the microwave (remove)
3.
Mix all the other ingredients into the
butter.
4.
Tip the mixture into the cooking dish,
press it down with your hands.
5.
Put the dish in the microwave and cook on
High for 4 mins.
6.
Get an adult to take the dish out of the
microwave- it might be very hot.
7.
When it is cold, cut your shortbread into
small squares. You might need help with this.

Bicycle Morning
Bicycle Morning
Riding along it’s a bicycle morning, trying to catch
on the wind
Riding along and taking in the sunshine and being
with all of my friends
I don’t have cares, no I ain’t got worries
‘Long as I’m riding with you
Just riding along and taking in the sunshine
We sing our happy song
Ride, ride, ride, it’s a bicycle morning
Ride, ride, ride, it’s a sun shiny day
Ride, ride, ride, it’s a bicycle morning
Just taking in the sunshine and being in love all the
way.
I can see clearly across all the fields now, flowers
of all different kinds
The birds are all singing and having such a good time
I know they won’t pay us no mind
I can see Farmer Brown’s house on the corner
Look as he’s waving good-bye
And I just feel so doggone happy
I wish that I could touch the sky
Ride, ride, ride, it’s a bicycle morning
Ride,ride,ride, it’s a sun shiny day
Ride, ride, ride, it’s a bicycle morning
Just taking in the sunshine and being in love all the
way.

Lizard on my deck.
This minute lizard was on my deck today. It is a skink. It was a baby skink. It was about 5 cm long. I had a lot of trouble getting a picture of it.
Find something in your house that is 5 cm long so you can see how small it was.
Minute means "very small." In English we have another word - minute- which is spelled the same but is to do with time , as in hours and minutes.

Song- Singing Instructions
Remember singing is for fun, it doesn’t matter if it
sounds bad. My voice is old and worn out, sometimes I sing out of tune but I
still like to sing. You could teach this song to your family. If you play an
instrument you could teach yourself to play it. If you and your family get
really creative, record the performance using “voice recorder” on a phone.
Email the performance to me. Have fun!

If you are just learning English you will need to
read through the words a few times. If there is someone in your house, who
doesn’t speak English, perhaps Grandma or Granddad, they could learn the words
too.
