Rolled Oats Shortbread in the microwave

Rolled Oats Shortbread in the microwave

Things you need
A mixing bowl- plastic or glass. Make sure it will fit in the microwave.
A glass, plastic or china dish. Square or rectangle is best but a round flan dish will do. Make sure it will fit in the microwave. Remember- Do not use metal in the microwave.
100 g of butter
1 cup of rolled oats (stuff you make porridge with)
1 cup desiccated coconut (coconut in tiny pieces)
½ cup of brown sugar        If you only have white sugar it will be OK.
¼ cup of white sugar

What to do – Method
1.    Put the butter in the mixing bowl. Put the bowl in the microwave. If you have a paper towel put it over the top of the bowl. This stops the butter making a big mess. Microwave on High for 40 seconds or until the butter is melted.
2.    Take the bowl out of the microwave (remove)
3.    Mix all the other ingredients into the butter.
4.    Tip the mixture into the cooking dish, press it down with your hands.
5.    Put the dish in the microwave and cook on High for 4 mins.
6.    Get an adult to take the dish out of the microwave- it might be very hot.
7.    When it is cold, cut your shortbread into small squares. You might need help with this.
