Things you will need
½ cup of really hot water- an adult will need to
help you with this.
1 ¼ cups of bran
50g melted butter- an adult will need to help you
with this.
1 egg
½ cup brown sugar (white sugar will be OK to use)
¾ cup plain yoghurt (If you only have fruity yoghurt
it will be OK to use)
1 ¼ cups of flour
1 ¼ teaspoons of baking soda
¼ teaspoon of salt
½ cup raisins or sultanas. If you don’t have any just
leave this part out.
A big mixing bowl, a small mixing bowl and a fork
2 cups or coffee mugs. Don’t use any that have gold
paint on them.
Paper baking cases or strips of baking paper.
What to do-(Method)
1.
Put ½ cup of hot water and melted butter
into the mixing bowl. Mix these together.
2.
Add 1 ¼ cups of bran and mix it all
together.
3.
Break the egg into the small mixing bowl
and beat with a fork. Stir in the sugar and the yoghurt.
4.
Tip these into the big bowl with the
bran. Stir it until it is all mixed together.
5.
Put 1 ½ cups of flour, ½ teaspoon of
salt, 1 ¼ teaspoons of baking soda into the big bowl and stir gently.
6.
Add the raisins or sultanas. If you used
fruity yoghurt do not put in dried fruit.
7.
Put a paper baking case, or your strips
of baking paper, into each cup or mug.
8.
Put a large spoon of the mixture into
each cup.
9.
Put the cups in the microwave and cook on
High for 1 min. You might need to cook them for 1 ½ minutes if you use big
cups. The cups might be hot so be careful when you take them out. I just
tip mine upside down on a plate to get them out.
The mixture can be kept, with a
cover over it, in the fridge for a week. You can have fresh muffins every day.
